Help Beauty! (hit by car)

Organized by Georgia Humane Society

Update #3
3/22: The wonderful people HandicappedPets.com are giving us a discount on Beauty's wheelchair. They offer a variety of services and products to help injured, elderly, or needy pets! We are thrilled for their support! It is going to help not only Beauty, but other Georgia pets that need rehabilitation! We are at 79% of our goal to cover Beauty's care! Thank you so much for your support! Look how happy she is...even after all she's been through!
Update #2
3/21: Beauty is resting and doing well. As part of her rehabilitation, she is going to need a wheelchair. It's hard for her to stand and she needs assistance walking. Until she can gain her strength back, she is going to rely on it.

Here is the link to the wheelchair!

We are updating the chip in to include the cost. This will be a permanent investment so we will use it not only to help Beauty, but any other dogs in the future. We will also loan it out to other rescues who may need it for their dogs as well!

Update #1
3/17: Beauty saw our vet to get X-rays and has a broken femur in her back left leg at the head of the femur. She also has a cracked pelvis. Michelle drove Beauty immediately up to Calhoun from Newnan to an orthopedic specialist who just finished evaluating her and will do surgery in the morning.

Breakdown of funds:

  • $615 surgery
  • $40 antibiotics
  • $200 x-rays, anesthesia
  • $34 vet evaluation
  • $100 supportive care (pain meds, food, etc)
  • TOTAL: $989.00
We rely entirely on donations! Please help us help Beauty! She is such a beautiful dog inside and out. She didn't deserve this fate, but the good news is that every dollar counts and you can help us save her life! Please donate if you can or pass her story along to your friends.

Thank you for all your support! -GHS

PS. As always, 100% of donations will go to Beauty's care. Anyone who donates will receive periodic updates as to her progress via e-mail once the ChipIn is full.

Beauty Needs Help!!!
When our friends at Dekalb Animal Services contacted us about a dog that was going to be euthanized, we just HAD to rescue her. She could not stand and had to use her front legs to scoot around her kennel. She had been hit by a car!

Her name is Beauty and she is a total sweetheart! Her initial diagnosis is a broken pelvis and broken back leg. Even through what must be horrendous pain, she is such a nice dog. We estimate her to be about 6 months old, ~40 lbs, and a Retriever/Newfoundland mix. (She's big, but a baby!)

Vet Work:
  • full physical
  • x-rays
  • surgery (will post an update on exact procedure when we know)
  • medications (pain, antibiotics)
  • spay
  • vaccinations, deworming, heartworm testing
  • flea/tick/heartworm preventative
Part of being a no-kill organization means that we treat sick and injured pets no matter the costs or time. Beauty deserved to be rescued, she deserves rehabilitation, and she deserves a family! However, we can't do this alone. As a volunteer run rescue, we rely entirely on donations.

This chip in will start at $300 to cover basic care, but as soon as we have the prognosis from our orthopedic vet, we expect it to be ~$1000.

*100% of donations will go to Beauty's care. Anyone who donates will receive periodic emails as to her progress.
